Before You Paint
Here are the suggested steps for painting your stencils:
Check the dimensions – Ensure that the game(s) you've chosen will fit within the space you're painting.
Prepare the surface – Clean the area thoroughly. Use a blower or broom to remove sand, grit, and debris from the surface.
Check the weather – Spray paint works best when the temperature is at least 5°C or warmer. Choose a day with minimal wind for the best results.
Position the stencil – Lay the stencil on the surface where you want it to appear. Some stencils may need assembly. Use masking tape to hold the pieces together and secure the stencil in place.
Consider additional planning – Some stencils, like the 4-Square, may require painting the same piece twice. Familiarize yourself with how the stencil fits together. Diagrams and additional support can be provided by Fast Line Striping Systems.
Safety precautions – Always follow safety guidelines when using spray paint. Wear a face mask, gloves, eye goggles, and protective clothing. Review the safety instructions and first aid information on the paint can.
Apply the paint – Spray the open areas of the stencil in thin layers. Two light coats are better than one thick one, as they minimize pooling and help the paint dry faster. Let the paint dry between coats and before removing the stencil.
Clean and store the stencils – After use, allow cardboard stencils to dry completely before storing. Wash off any plastic stencils and tape before the paint dries. If the paint has dried, you can use a paint scraper or similar tool to gently remove it.
These steps will help you achieve clean, sharp results and keep your stencils in good condition for future use!
